A New Year brings new goals. How are you doing thus far? Did you complete your goals list? Congratulations. Have you taken action toward achieving those goals? Even though the first few months of 2009 are behind us, with the new months come evaluation on the actions taken and results. Are you on track? You must measure in order to stay on track.  Evaluate - Measure - Take Action.

Are you wondering how to get started?  Here are six areas where you can focus your goal setting:
  1. Family - Home
  2. Spiritual - Ethical
  3. Social - Cultural
  4. Financial - Career
  5. Physical - Health
  6. Mental - Educational

Basic Goal Setting Steps

  • Start by focusing on 1 major goal in each area
  • Write it down and state it as if you have already achieved the goal
  • Do a quick set of steps required to achieve the goal
  • How will reaching the goal change your life and the lives of those
  • around you
  • Give each goal a date of accomplishment
  • Find an accountability partner to help keep you on track
  • Make time each day to visualize the goal at its successful conclusion
Don't try to make it perfect, just get the process going and set aside time
each day to review the information. You may need to modify the goal as you go through the year but that is OK, modify as needed.

Remember, if it is not written down it is not a goal but a dream.
