I was doing an Antioxidant Screening the other day and as I was reviewing this persons Body Defense Score (she scored <10,000 with a healthy score starting at 40,000) she said these words...But I'm Healthy.  Now I had just explained to her that based on data collected from over ten million antioxidant scans recorded world wide she had a grade of F (very poor or failing) with A being an optimal score. She then went on to explain she was healthy because her cancer was in remission (which means that our current technology cannot currently measure the amount of cancer she may have in her body).  She then explained her on going battle with lupus which she was having some current difficulties with.  This person is also 75 pounds over weight with blood pressure problems.

Now, she is not the first person nor will she be the last to tell me "But I'm Healthy" when they have one or more chronic diseases.  There is a problem with our thinking in this country.  We no longer know what it means to be healthy.  We have become so in tuned with sickness being the norm that we now measure health in terms of degrees of sickness.  If I am not in the hospital right now then I'm healthy.  If I am not having a heart attack or stroke but taking blood pressure and cholesterol medication then I am healthy.  If I have had my gall bladder removed, I am healthy.  I passed my kidney stone, I'm healthy.  I take insulin twice a day so my blood sugar is under control, I'm healthy.

We are a people that measure from the bottom and not the top.  I try to encourage people to evaluate their health based on the top not on the bottom of the health curve.  Use someone like Jack LaLanne as a model of what it means to be healthy.  He is 94 years old with no chronic disease, on no medications, works out 7 days per week and has more energy and vitality then most people that are 20.  How do you compare to that level of health?  Are you really healthy when you compare yourself to the best in health?

If you have one or more chronic diseases you are not healthy.  If you are constantly picking up every cold and virus that comes along you are not healthy.  If you have stones forming in your body and arteries clogging you are not healthy.  If you are having body parts removed because of disease you are not healthy.  If you don't have enough energy to do all that is required for a normal day of activity that may include a fitness work out, doing yard work, playing with your grand children or handling an emergency situation then you may need to evaluate your current lifestyle.

People it is time we evaluate our health based on the best of health not the worst.  We have become conditioned to think in terms of just surviving.  It is time for us to move ourselves from bottom level thinking to top level thinking.  This body we have been given is a miracle and it is just begging for you to give it the best care possible.  If you do your body has an almost unlimited potential.  Start today to think in terms of thriving not just surviving.
